Confidential Home STD Testing Service

(Involves testing your urine sample)

We offer sexual health home testing service which is very confidential using secure postal STD testing service. You will then be informed by your own chosen means including text message of the results and we will offer you advice and appropriate treatment as required.

We send you the actual laboratory test kit used in clinics but designed for home sample collection. Our laboratory uses the latest PCR (polymerase chain reaction) laboratory tests on a single urine sample.

This service is useful for diagnosing the following STDs:

  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhoea
  • Herpes simplex 1 & 11
  • Mycoplasma & Ureaplasma
  • Trichomonas
  • Gardnerella

No blood sampling is required for the above and the tests are carried out in a CPA approved laboratory.

Why test for Sexually Transmitted diseases (STD)?

Most cases of STDs in men and women are asymptomatic, meaning they do not present with any obvious symptoms in both sexes. However, if not diagnosed can cause significant health problems including miscarriages in females, infertility or problem having children in both males and females and conjunctivitis or eye infection in the newborns.

We recommend that these tests are carried out after 14 days of having unprotected sexual encounter.

Testing for other STDs including HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C.

(We do require a blood sample).

In order to obtain an accurate result for these types of STD we need to collect a blood test. The diagnosis of the above cannot be carried out accurately with a urine sample. There is a saliva test available, but it does not offer the same accuracy as a blood test. We also feel that due to the seriousness of these illnesses should you test positive you will need to be seen by a trained clinician for review of the results and to offer appropriate counseling and other treatments as deemed necessary.

In the UK generally there is a higher prevalence of Chlamydia and Herpes compared with Hepatitis B & C, HIV and Syphilis when compared to other parts of the world.
